Descaling. Seeds are separated from impurities. The
shells are then used for the production of energy (fuel)
and feed.

Crushing and extraction. The grinding is needed to break
the plant cells which are then subjected to pressing for
oil. In industry, the extraction is performed by
authorized solvents.
3.
Refining: This phase removes impurities that have formed
at earlier stages, in order to soften the taste of the
oil and reduce acidity. The final product is a pale
yellow oil and slightly sweet flavor, with a maximum
acidity of 0.2 º. The trade name is "refined sunflower
oil." |
